Crop production, or land cultivation, is the core business of the Group. The Group currently leases approximately 134,000 hectares of chernozem (black soil) farmland for its crop production, is in the process of registering 16,000 hectares in Luhansk region and is in the process of acquiring an additional 10,000 hectares in Luhansk region and 6,000 hectares in neighboring Kharkiv region. Crops sales accounted for approximately 56.6% of Agroton’s revenue in 2009.
Agroton Public Limited is the largest diversified vertically integrated agricultural producer in eastern Ukraine. Founded in 1992, the Company harvests 134,000 hectares of black soil farmland in the Luhansk and Kharkiv regions and operates 235,000 tonnes of elevator storage facilities. Agroton Public Limited conducts its operations in three segments: crop farming, livestock, and food processing and food production. The Company is the No.1 sunflower producer and No.4 wheat producer in Ukraine.
